Leader Dahal bats for national unity government

PrachandaBiratnagar / October 7: UCPN (Maoist) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stressed on forming a national unity government, citing the situation where the country is reeling under the critical condition.

Speaking with the journalists at Biratnagar Airport today morning, Chairperson Dahal argued that it would be unfortunate for the country if the three major political parties were not to forge a unity in line with the 16-point agreement.

Leader Dahal, also former Prime Minister, pressed for the earliest resolution of the standoff surfaced among the disgruntled Madhesi, Tharu and various nationalities leaders who have been waging agitation in protest of the newly promulgated constitution.

Stating that the talks with them was moving ahead in a positive manner, he also expressed his confidence that the import of essential goods, including petrol from India would ease at the earliest as the talks, as he shared, at political level with Indian side were being held.

Asserting that the transit right to the landlocked country like Nepal was inalienable, Dahal furthermore informed that the government was effortful to import essential goods from other countries via air and land route for the time being.

Asked who would be the next Prime Minister in the consensus government, leader Dahal remarked that the selection would be based on consensus.

He was of the opinion that the unannounced border blockade imposed by India on Nepal had further fostered the unity among the three major political parties. RSS
