Govt to construct houses for Chepangs and Gandharbhas

Chepang communityGorkha / October 27: The government has announced to construct quake-resistant houses for the poor Chepang and Gandharbha communities under the Peoples Housing programme in the district.

The Building Division Office has stated that it will construct 40 houses for the communities at Taklung,Tanglichok, Bhumlichok, Ghyalchok and Makaising VDCs in the district. The earlier constructed 40 houses were destroyed by the earthquake that struck the country on April 25.

Office Chief Shyam Kishor Singh informed that the Ministry of Urban Development has allocated 40 million rupees for the purpose.

Earlier, as many as 70 houses for Chepang and 40 for Gandharbha were constructed under the programme. There are 580 Chepang households in these VDCs. The government had started this programme four years back. RSS
