Jab drive against cervical cancer
Kathmandu / February 26: The government has launched a vaccination campaign against cervical cancer. The drive was set in motion from Friday form Kaski and Chitwan districts, according to Child Health Division’s Immunisation Section Chief Mukunda Gautam.
Some 15,000 girls will be jabbed against the cancer of cervix in two phases. The vaccination drive has started as a test from two districts and it will be expanded to other districts as well upon seeing its effect. The vaccination is free and its cost (two phase) includes Rs 20,000.
Preparations are on to launch the drive targeting women in between 30 to 60 years of age as the women of this age group is considered the most vulnerable to the cervical cancer, the Division said.
This is the first time the government has launched the vaccination drive against cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is taken as the forth-most common cancer among the women worldwide. RSS
