Art exhibition to mark 60 years of Nepal-Japan ties
Kathmandu / February 26: The Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation have organised an art exhibition entitled ‘Passage to the Future: Art from a New Generation in Japan’ at the Nepal Art Council today to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan. This year marks the anniversary.
The exhibition focuses on art produced in Japan at the beginning of the 21st century. It showcases the work of eleven young artists who are presently attracting a great deal of attention. The contemporary art works put on display reflect the worldwide tendency for artists to take a greater interest in everyday life and focus on the expression of very personal perceptions and feelings. There are 42 art works on display in the exhibition which will last till March 8, 2016.
The exhibition presents paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs and video works.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Pokharel inaugurated the exhibition. On the occasion, Minister Pokharel said the exhibition would help further consolidate Nepal-Japan ties.
Charge d’Affaires of Japan to Nepal, Shinya Machida, stressed on promoting the age-old relations between the two countries and that cultural and educational exchanges would enhance goodwill. RSS
