Nepal and China ink transit and transport agreement; PM Oli calls on Chinese President Xi Jinping
Tirtha Bhattaraee (Beijing) / March 21: Nepal and China have on Monday signed important agreements including on transit and transport. The agreements have been signed during the high level talks held at the Great Hall of the People here in course of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official visit.
Also today Prime Minister Oli and his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang held talks at the Great Hall of the People.
On the occasion, the two leaders discussed on further deepening the Nepal-China relations as well as on various aspects of Chinese possible cooperation to Nepal.
In course of the high-level talks, various agreements have been signed and letters exchanged to that connection.
According to a press release issued by Pramod Dahal, the Prime Minister’s press advisor, the agreements signed today include the transit and transport agreement, the free trade agreement, the agreement related to installing solar grids at 32 thousand houses, the agreement on soft loan, the loan agreement for construction of the Pokhara Airport, the agreement on exploration of gas and petroleum in Nepal and a deal on construction of a bridge in Hilsa, among others.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli who has been on a weeklong official China visit called on President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping on Monday.
During the meeting held at Beijing-based ‘Great Hall of the People’, matters relating to mutual interests and bilateral cooperation were discussed.
On the occasion, the two exchanged views on further consolidating the bilateral relations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. RSS
