11 industries face cases for substandard products

Food qualityMorang / April 1: The Regional Food Technology and Quality Control Office, Biratnagar has filed cases against 11 eastern region-based industries for producing substandard goods.

Those industries facing the cases for violating manufacturing rules and regulations are BK Spice Industry, Dairy Fresh Industry Birgunj, Nepal Wellhope Agri-Tech Pvt Tankisinuwari, Star Feed Industries Jhapa, Milkfood Dairy Product Bara, Budhkaran Tea Packaging Jhapa, KB and Sons Nepal Lahan, Praveen Batare Biscuit Bakery Jhapa, Shreeram Refine Oil Product Pvt, Perry Fresh Industry Birgunj and Milkfood Dairy Product.

Goods manufactured by these industries were found to be sub-standard, Office Chief Pramod Koirala said. The sample test of goods was conducted to determine their quality, he said.

Meanwhile, the Biratnagar Sub Metropolitan City Office is allocating additional Rs eight million to its subordinate body to complete the construction of a slaughter housethat started some six years ago in the town. Rs five million has already been released from the office reserve fund and an agreement on providing Rs three million more is likely to take place soon, Office Livestock Service Division Chief Hiralal Yadav said. Though the office started the construction of an advanced slaughter house in the city, it was halted in the mid citing the budgetary constraint. RSS
