FCAN to focus on post earthquake reconstruction efforts
Chitwan / April 1: The 18th central general assembly of the Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN) concluded here Thursday evening with the decision to give priority to the post earthquake-reconstruction works.
The General Assembly issued a 29-point Chitwan declaration, calling on authorities concerned to focus on attaining economic progress with the effective enforcement of the constitution. The declaration states that private sector is ready to cooperate with the government towards that end.
The FCAN demanded its mandatory representation in the National Reconstruction Authority, the government body formed to implement the post earthquake-reconstruction works.
Besides, it has voiced for guaranteeing the smooth supply of fuel as its lack has affected the under construction projects and sought other financial facilities for the losses they (contractors) suffered from the Madhesh agitation and the border blockade.
The government has been requested to refund the interest (0f nine months) contractors paid for bank loan as construction works were suspended in this period due to the Madhesh agitation and India’s unofficial border blockade, FCAN District Chair Hom Kumar Acharya said.
It may be noted that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the inaugural session of the event Wednesday pledged to extend the deadline of the big development projects affected by the adverse situation in the country by a year.
Over 1,000 contractors across the country gathered in Chitwan to attend the event. RSS
