PM felicitates record-keeping climbers

Pasang Lyahmu FoundationKathmandu / April 11: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has honoured three members of a family for their records in climbing the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest.

At a programme organized by the Pasang Lhyamu Mountaineering Foundation in the capital on Monday, Prime Minister Oli felicitated climber trio Lhakpa Sherpa, Mingma Gelu Sherpa and Pasang Lhyamu Sherpa.

The Prime Minister termed national luminary Pasang Lhyamu Sherpa an ideal and icon of bravery. “There is high risk in winning gold medal in mountaineering, But it is not in education and sports sector. No one can climb the highest peak just like that and it is indeed not easier for Sherpas as well”.

At the programme, CPN-UML general secretary Iswor Pokharel said Pasang Lhyamu’s courage to reach atop Mt Everest will be ever- remembering.

Foundation Chairperson Kripasur Sherpa said the institution has been felicitating those who have made world records in adventure tourism.

On the occasion, US national Miss Elizabeth Ali was also felicitated for providing encouragement to Sherpa families in climbing the Mount Everest.

Speaking at the programme, Russian national Alaxender Agramo who has been serving as a goodwill ambassador in Russia on behalf of the Foundation, shed light on the challenges of mountaineering. RSS
