‘River Photo’ exhibition opens at Narayanhiti Palace Museum

Narayanhiti MuseumKathmandu / May 20: A ‘river photo’ exhibition has opened at the Narayanhiti Palace Museum in the capital with the objective of spreading awareness on cleaning and conserving the rivers in the Kathmandu Valley.

The exhibition, organised for the first time at the Narayanhiti Palace Museum, will run until May 22.

One hundred photos related to the trash dumped and the pollution seen in the different rivers and rivulets flowing through the Valley clicked by photographer Ashesh Shumsher Rana have been kept in the exhibition organised by the Manasha Foundation Nepal.

The exhibition has been put together at the initiatives of Laxmi Sharma, the country’s first woman three-wheeler driver.

The photos depict the worsening condition due to pollution of the Salinadi, Bagmati, Rudramati (Dhobi Khola), Icchumati (Tukucha), Sapan Tirtha (Samakhusi), Bishnumati, Sangleykhola among other streams.

Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Eknath Dhakal inaugurated the photo exhibition. On the occasion, Minister Dhakal stressed on the utter need of keeping our rivers and streams clean. RSS
