Dahal sends written reply to apex court; Court misused for publicity
Kathmandu / May 31: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday has sent a response in writing to the apex court on a ‘contempt of court’ case filed against him.
Lokmani Pokharel as a representative of defendant Dahal reached the Supreme Court (SC) and submitted a written response on the contempt case.
The petitioner registered the writ against him to misuse court to come to limelight, Dahal’s response stated, adding that, “The petitioner seems to have an intent to come to publicity by registering the contempt of court case; it is in no way be judicious to move court to serve own petty motive”.
Chairperson Dahal in his written response also demanded the dismissal of writ arguing that the petition was registered merely to gain publicity.
Claiming that the remarks he made at the 13 May programme in the capital was deliberately modified and published in a whimsical manner, he said, “The petitioner himself has brought the court into controversy”.
Charter 27 of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) has clearly stated that the sub-judice cases and complaints filed against both sides (ruling and rebel) over political reasons would be withdrawn and the detainees would be released after disclosure of their status.
Lawyer Dinesh Tripathi had moved the apex court against Chairperson Dahal on May 16 arguing that Dahal had undermined the court’s integrity and attempted to meddle with judicial process by giving remarks against judicial body on May 13. RSS
