‘Human resource development must to meet SDGs’
Kathmandu / July 9: Minister for Education Girirajmani Pokharel has said that it was indispensable to develop competent and educated human resource towards realizing the goal of attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
The Minister said this while responding to queries raised by lawmakers on headings related to Education Ministry under the Appropriation Bill-2073 BS at the Legislature-Parliament on Saturday.
Minister Pokharel further said that the government is effortful in taking ahead nation-building campaign by developing an education system that could contribute to graduate Nepal to Developing Country from the existing status of Least Developed Country (LDC).
The government has prepared education policy, plan and strategy and is also working to implement them laying equal emphasis and importance right from school to higher education level, he added.
The Minister also informed the lawmakers that he has been effortful to reach out the textbooks to all nooks and corners of the country.
He also underscored the need to cut off the vacancies at primary level schools and gradually adjust them to the secondary level. Minister Pokharel also noted the need of 23,992 vacancies for new teachers to address the current gap in education sector.
The Minister also pledged to take into consideration the suggestions of parliamentarians in the implementation of educational programme, plans and policies to the possible extent.
Lawmakers Prem Suwal and Ramhari Khatiwada demanded clarification from Minister Pokharel. RSS
