Endangered Magar crocodile rescued and released into Baba pond
Kanchanpur / Aug 13: An endangered Magar crocodile, found in a fishpond of covered hall of Mahendranagar, has been released into Baba pond inside the Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve on Friday night.
Reserve employees and Nepal Army rescued it from the pond and released it into Baba pond, said Chief Conservation Officer at Reserve, Bed Kumar Dhakal.
The 70-80 kg crocodile was around five-seven years, added Dhakal. Two types of crocodile—Ghadiyal and Magar are found in Nepal.
He said that the crocodile might have come there from the Reserve’s jungle in search of food. RSS
