SC decides to review its decision on former crown princess’ land claim

Supreme CourtKathmandu / Sept 2: The Supreme Court on Friday decided to review its earlier verdict on the issue pertaining to the disputed land registered in the name of former crown princess Prerana Rajya Laxmi Shah.

A full bench comprising justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Dr Anand Mohan Bhattarai decided to review the earlier verdict regarding this case.

Earlier, the former crown princess moved the apex court with the claim that 15 ropani and one ana of land based at Chhauni initially owned by former King Birendra Shah, which was transferred to the Nepal Trust by the government, was actually given to her by her parents as a gift.

The SC decision handed down by a division bench comprising the then Chief Justice Ram Kumar Shah and Justice Cholendra Shamser JB Rana last year had recognised the ownership of the land on former crown princess.

The Friday verdict stated that the last year’s verdict was against the court precedents. RSS
