Writ filed demanding declaration of date of elections

Supreme CourtKathmandu / Sept 5: A writ petition was filed at the Supreme Court Monday seeking an order requiring the concerned authorities to declare the date for the election of the Federal House of Representatives and the Provincial Assemblies.

The writ petitioners including Dr Chandra Kant Gyawali, Bimal Gyawali, Liladhar Upadhyaya and Shashi Kumar Karki have named the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and the Legislature-Parliament as the defendants, while arguing that necessary laws for the election should be drafted and the date for the federal and provincial level elections are announced.
