During a meeting with human rights activists associated with ‘Save Gangamaya Campaign’ on Wednesday, President Bhandari expressed the view that Gangamaya, who has been staging hunger strike for the past six years for justice, should break the hunger strike and added that she was seriously concerned about the latest step Gangamaya has taken.

President Bhandari said a situation whereby an individual has to put her own life at stake for justice was very unfortunate.

Human rights activist Indra Aryal said that there would always be support of human rights activists in the campaign of justice to Gangamaya and the campaign would drew the attention bodies concerned until Gangamaya’s demands are addressed.

Human rights activists have already staged stage-in time and again at different places including in front of official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar and Singha Durbar under the campaign.

Gangamaya has been staging hunger strike for the past six years demanding action against the murderers of her 17-year-old son Krishna Prasad Adhikari. He was killed in 2061 BS. Gangamaya has been giving continuity to the hunger strike alone after her husband Nanda Prasad died after 334 days of the hunger strike that they had started together. RSS
