FNCCI endorses amended charter; Bhawani Rana certain to become next president

FNCCIKathmandu / Oct 20 : Bhawani Rana is certain to assume the president post of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) from coming March after a special general assembly endorsed the amended charter of the institution on Thursday.

The amendment allows senior vice president to become president paving the way for Rana to head the FNCCI without election. Rana will be the first woman to become president of FNCCI.

The amended charter also provisions FNCCI chief at seven provinces. Though six former president of FNCCI objected to the provision, the amendment has been endorsed by the special general assembly.

Addressing a press meet after the closed-door special general meeting, FNCCI President Muraraka said that statute has also added clauses to make the apex body of Nepali private sector more aligned to the federal structure. “The statute has also created a post of treasurer,” he added.

The meeting, however, was boycotted by six former presidents as they have reservations on the amendment.
