Giranchour Integrated Settlement handed over to community; President Bhandari stresses on expediting reconstruction works
Sindhupalchok / Oct 28: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that the attachment of traditional culture, practices and values developed in a particular place has created complexity to shift any settlement to a new place.
Addressing a programme organised to hand over an integrated settlement constructed by the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation at Giranchaur-8 of the district today, President Bhandari said that such historical attachment of the particular place connects the people creating difficulties to shift them to a planned place.
On the occasion, President Bhandari urged the locals to be self-dependent rather developing dependency on others.
She opined that the integrated settlement could be developed at any of the quake-hit mountainous districts but lack of infrastructure for the purpose has created difficulties.
The President stressed on expediting reconstruction works at the quake-hit areas with a high priority.
Similarly, Minister for Industry, Nabindraraj Joshi said that the integrated settlement was a role model to all, adding that the government could learn more from it.
Lawmakers Agni Sapkota, Sher Bahadur Tamang, artists Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya also addressed the programme and praised the role of the Foundation.
Similarly, Foundation chair Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus) said that the settlement was the symbol of equality. It is stated that the settlement with 65 houses was constructed at a total cost of over Rs 50 million. RSS
