‘Dayaram Pariyar Human Rights Award’ to Ram and Khan

NHRCKathmandu / March 28: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has announced to present ‘Dayaram Pariyar Human Rights Memorial Award’ to Baldev Ram and Nazbul Khan.

The award would be presented on Jestha 13, 2074 BS, the establishment day of NHRC. Ram of Siraha is active for the rights of Dalit and the landless while Khan is active for the rights of women, children and the helpless.

The NHRC has developed a separate web page in the name of its employee and human rights defender Pariyar who was killed in a police firing in Janakpur during the 2006 People’s Movement in the country.

Launching the web page at a programme organised at NHRC premises on Tuesday on the occasion of 11th Memorial Day of Pariyar, NHRC Chairman Anupraj Sharma complained that no change has been experienced in working style of security personnel and the government has in fact been promoting the impunity.
