President Bhandari confers title of honorary general on Indian Chief of Army

Indian Army ChiefKathmandu / March 29: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has conferred the title of honorary general on Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat.

President Bhandari, Supreme Commander-In-Chief of Nepal Army, conferred the title amidst a special function at Shital Niwas on Wednesday.

It the long time tradition that the title of honorary general is exchanged between the chiefs of army from Nepal and India.

Present on the occasion were Defense Minister Bal Krishna Khand, Chief Secretary Dr Som Lal Subedi, Chief of Army Staff, Rajendra Chhetri, and Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri.

Also present on the occasion were former Chiefs of Army Staffs, high level officials from Defense Ministry and high ranking officials of Nepal Army.

Earlier, visiting Indian Army Chief, Rawat called on Defense Minister Khand.

Rawat is on a four-day visit to Nepal at the invitation of his counterpart Chhetri. He is scheduled to visit various touristy and religious places and visit the Indian pension distribution office in Pokhara. RSS
