67 metric tonnes of garbage collected from major rivers of Kathmandu valley

Kathmandu / Sept. 16: A total of 67 metric tonnes of garbage was collected major rivers of Kathmandu valley on Saturday.

Seven metrics tonnes of solid waste was managed from the Baneshwor Campus areas while cleaning the Bagmati River as the part of the Bagmati River Clean-Up campaign that entered the 227th week on Saturday.

Some 400 campaigners of different organizations including High Powered Committee for Bagmati Integrated Development of the Bagmati Civilization, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, security personnel had participated in the campaign.

Similarly, two tonnes of solid waste was managed from Hanumanghat area of Gokarneshwor Municipality.

A total of 100 people had participated in the cleanliness campaign.

Twelve metric tonnes of dust piled at roadside while planting pipe of Melamchi drinking water project was cleaned from Kamalpokhari to Gaushala chowk under 187th week of Rudramati Clean-Up Campaign.

Lawmaker Geeta Rana and former Additional Inspector General of Police, Bigyan Raj Sharma, among others took part in the campaign.

Similarly, Machhapokhari-Balaju road side was cleaned under 158th weeks of Bishnumati Clean-Up Campaign. A total of 12 metric tonnes of garbage was managed from there where more than 500 campaigners had participated.

Likewise, 12 metric tonnes of solid waste was collected from Basundhara to Maharajgunj stretch in the town under 23rd week of Ring Road Clean-Up Campaign while one metric tonne of garbage was collected from Bagmati River at Tilganga area.

Similarly, one metric tonne of waste was managed at Minbhawan while eight metric tonnes of garbage was managed after cleaning Khadkulo bridge area under Indrawati River Clean-Up Campaign. RSS
