Govt appoints Sarbendra Khanal and Shailendra Khanal as IGPs of NP and APF (Update)

Sarbendra-Khanal-and-Shailendra-KhanalKathmandu / Apr 10: An emergency Cabinet meeting called by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has decided to appoint Sarbendra Khanal and Shailendra Khanal as Inspector General of Police (IGPs) of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force respectively.

The chiefs of both security forces, Prakash Aryal and Singha Bahadur Shrestha, are due to retire tomorrow, owing to the 30-year service term clause.

DIGs, Ramesh Kharel and Pushkar Karki were in the run for the Chief of Nepal Police. Likewise, Shailendra Khanal edged DIGs Shailendra KC and Puskar KC to the top post of Armed Police Force.

Earlier, Sarbendra Khanal had served as Police Commissioner of Kathmandu, Chief of Dhanusha District, Chief of Narayani Zone before taking over the helm of Metropolitan Crime Division Kathmandu.
