Two-third assembly members agree to name ‘Gandaki’ for Province 4
Pokhara, June 4/ After long discussion and debate, the assembly members of Province 4 have come to a conclusion to name the province. 45 provincial members have agreed and suggested to name the province as ‘Gandaki’. This number is more than two-thirds of the total 60 members of the provincial assembly.
Members representing CPN-UML (before unification), Nepali Congress and Rastriya Janamorcha agreed on the proposal for naming ‘Gandaki’ as province name whereas members representing Maoist Center (before unification) did not submit its opinion. Similarly, members of Naya Shakti Nepal suggested either ‘Gandaki Tamuwan’, ‘Gandaki’ and ‘Annapurna’.
Likewise, the assembly members except for Maoist Center (before unification) agreed on Pokhara as its provincial permanent capital.
The provincial meeting of Province 4 had formed a special committee to suggest the name and permanent capital of the province. (The Republica)
