CAN to provide scholarship for IT study
Biratnagar, June 24/The Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) is to provide scholarship amounting Rs 18.3 million in total for the deserving students opting to study information technology.
It was shared at a press meet jointly organized by the CAN and Lord Buddha Education Foundation in Biratnagar on Saturday evening.
The scholarship scheme named ‘CAN National ICT Scholarship-2075’ is aimed at ensuring the access of IT education to the poor and diligent students in the rural areas of all seven provinces.
The students securing the scholarships will get to study in the Kathmandu-based Lord Buddha Education Foundation for Bachelors level study of BSc IT.
Under the scholarship there will be altogether 49 seats for students- seven from each province, four female and three male from each provinces, according to CAN Province No 1 Chairperson Dev Kumar Subba.
Lord Buddha Education Foundation’s Pankaj Jalan informed that more seats would be added gradually under this scholarship.
To be chosen on the merit basis, the students have to meet certain criteria to get through the scholarship including the outstanding scores in their school (Grade 10) and high school (Grade 12).
Likewise, CAN Morang President Santosh Dahal spoke for the need of the Ministry of Education to consider incorporating IT subject in the curriculum and make this subject accessible and affordable for one and all students.(RSS)
