Foundation stone laid for Rastra Bank’s building
Kathmandu / Sept 21: Reconstruction of a Nepal Rastra Bank’s building damaged in the earthquake of April 2015 has started as its foundation stone has been laid today.
The building would be reconstructed in its original design, and covers over 42 ropanis of land in the Thapathali premises of the Bank, said a Bank official. Over Rs 1.8 billion is estimated to cost the project, and its completion target is 30 months.
Laying the foundation stone amid a function, Bank’s Governor Dr Chiranjibi Nepal urged the contractor to complete the project in time. He also expressed happiness at the project taking progress despite hurdles in the first place.
Joint Secretary of the National Reconstruction Authority Raju Man Manandhar said that there was a delay in reconstructing the building due to a lengthy process by the Department of Archaeology.
Deputy Governor Chinta Mani Shiwakoti said the building would be reconstructed in its original design. The bidding was called on April 27. RSS
