Justice Deepak Raj Joshee removed from constitutional bench

deepak-joshiKathmandu / Jan 3: The Supreme Court (SC) has removed senior-most Justice Deepak Raj Joshee from the constitutional bench.

A meeting of the Judicial Council (JC) on Thursday appointed Mira Khadka and Hari Krishna Karki for the constitutional bench. The meeting also removed Joshee from the chairman post of Reconciliation Council and appointed Justice Ishwor Khatiwada to the post.

Joshee has been stripped of the “one number chamber” he has been occupying in his capacity as the senior-most justice. According to a source, Joshee has been given another room of the Supreme Court.

Earlier on Wednesday, newly appointed Chief Justice Cholendra Sumsher Rana has announced that he would not assign Supreme Court benches to senior-most Justice Deepak Raj Joshee, who was rejected as the chief of judiciary by the parliamentary committee five months ago.

He said the decision to bar Joshee from allocation of benches is a respect to the decision of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
