Over 100 Senior Citizens Benefited from a Free Health and Psychosocial Camp of Pustantaran Nepal

Kathmandu / Nov. 15: A total of 100 senior citizens above the age of 60 benefited from a free health and psychosocial camp organized by Pustantaran Nepal, an organization dedicated to promoting healthy and dignified aging in Nepal.
The camp was organized in the Chaughare area of Kirtipur Municipality, Ward No. 6, where doctors and certified counselors provided health check-ups and psychosocial counseling to elderly participants.
According to the attending physicians, a significant number of participants were found to be suffering from diabetes, hypertension, and similar health conditions. The psychosocial counseling sessions helped senior citizens understand mental health and learn ways to manage stress. Health professionals also reviewed the medicines consumed by patients and provided guidance on their proper use.
Eighty-two-year-old Ram Bista, who attended the camp, thanked Pustantaran Nepal for providing services at their doorstep. He found the counseling session particularly useful.
Pustantaran Nepal, an organization dedicated to providing essential services to senior citizens in Nepal and promoting dignified aging, is a member of The Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People and is actively working to raise the voices of senior citizens at the national and international levels.
This was the organization’s second health camp. Earlier, on 26 April, it conducted a similar free health camp in Sundarbasti, Budhanilkantha Municipality Ward No. 9, where 60 senior citizens received health services. During that camp as well, most participants were found to have diabetes, high blood pressure, and related issues, according to Dr. Gaurav Khatri, who provided medical services.
The organization, committed to dignified aging, currently offers transportation, healthcare, recreational activities, and day-care services for senior citizens. It also aims to establish a “Senior Citizen Village” in the future to ensure a more comfortable living environment for the elderly. Members of Pustantaran Nepal and their families are eligible to receive discounts and hassle-free services at hospitals partnered with the organization.
