Over 100 Senior Citizens Benefit from Free Health and Psychosocial Counseling Camp of Pustantaran Nepal

Kavrepalanchok / Dec. 20: More than 100 senior citizens benefited from a free health check-up and psychosocial counseling camp organized in Panchkhal Municipality of Kavrepalanchok district.

The camp was organized by Pustantaran Nepal, an organization working to promote dignified aging in Nepal, in collaboration with Panchkhal Municipality and Arthik Bikas Mitra Saving and Credit Cooperative, at the premises of the Panchkhal Municipal Office. Free health services were provided from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The camp targeted senior citizens, particularly those aged 75 years and above. Services provided during the camp included general health check-ups, psychosocial counseling, and the distribution of necessary medicines free of cost. Health professionals involved in the camp reported that a significant number of participants were diagnosed with high blood pressure and other chronic health conditions during the screening.

Health check-ups and counseling services were delivered by a team of medical professionals, including Dr. Sankalp KC and Dr. Anil Pokhrel.

Pustantaran Nepal is an organization working to provide essential and dignified services for senior citizens across Nepal. This camp marked the organization’s first health camp outside the Kathmandu Valley. Earlier, the organization conducted a free health camp on April 26 at Sundarbasti, Ward No. 4 of Budhanilkantha Municipality, Kathmandu, benefiting more than 60 senior citizens aged 60 years and above.

Similarly, a health camp held on November 6 at Ward No. 6 of Kirtipur Municipality benefited over 100 senior citizens. Pustantaran Nepal has also organized similar health camps at Shankhapark in Kathmandu, UN Park in Lalitpur, and the Budhanilkantha Temple premises. The organization is organization weekly rapid health screening and monthly camp targeting the senior citizens.

The organization has been actively working toward building a dignified and senior-friendly society by providing services related to transportation, healthcare, recreation, and daily support for elderly citizens. In the future, Pustantaran Nepal aims to establish senior citizen villages to promote independent and dignified living.

Members of Pustantaran Nepal and their families will also be able to access healthcare services at partner hospitals at discounted rates, ensuring affordable and hassle-free medical services.
