Government Accepts Probe Report on Gurung, Forms Ad Hoc Committee for NRCS

Kathmandu / June 9: The Council of Ministers has decided to accept the report submitted by the committee formed to study and investigate matters relating to former Home Minister and Member of the House of Representatives, Sudhan Gurung.
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media, Minister for Education and Sports and Government Spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel said that the Cabinet had formally received the report prepared by the investigation committee.
According to him, further decisions will be taken after a detailed review of the report. Responding to questions from journalists during a press briefing held to announce the Cabinet decisions, Pokharel stated that the necessary procedures would move forward following the acceptance and study of the report. He also clarified that the Cabinet had not made any decision regarding the immediate appointment of a new Home Minister.
“Today’s meeting has not taken any such decision,” he said.
The Cabinet also approved the use of national forest land for the implementation of the Lower Arun Hydropower Project, Lower Nyadi Khola Hydropower Project, Ghunsa Khola Hydropower Project, and Tadi Khola Hydropower Project. It also endorsed the Civil Service (Sixteenth Amendment) Regulations, 2026.
Government Dissolves Previous Red Cross Committee, Forms New Ad Hoc Body
The Government of Nepal has constituted a new ad hoc committee of the Nepal Red Cross Society.
The Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday dissolved the previous ad hoc committee and formed a new nine-member committee under the chairmanship of Bishal Kumar Bhandari of Dolakha.
Rishiraman Khanal of Gorkha has been appointed General Secretary, while Premsagar Karmacharya of Kathmandu will serve as Treasurer.
Other members of the committee include Basant Kumar Shrestha of Bhojpur, Abismi Neupane of Dang, Pushpa Das of Tehrathum, Prem Lama of Sindhupalchok, Mohammad Ayatullah Rahman of Saptari, and Manju Saud Bohara of Kailali.
