EC office-bearers discuss by-election preparation with PM Oli

Kathmandu / Aug 12: Office-bearers of the Election Commission including Chief Commissioner, Dinesh Thapaliya, called on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to discuss about the preparations for the by-election in the vacant post at local levels

During the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar, on Monday, the Commission suggested that it would be appropriate to hold elections to 34 vacant posts including mayor of Kirtipur municipality on the third week of Mangsir.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli urged the EC to determine the date of by-election before winter season and to adopt frugality in the election.

The EC informed the Prime Minister that it would update the voters’ name list at the concerned local levels before announcing the election date.

Prime Minister’s Chief Advisor, Bishnu Rimal, Chief Secretary Lila Devi Gadtaula, among others were present on the occasion. RSS
