Nepalis in the UAE asked to refrain from spreading rumors, misleading comments

Kathmandu / March 15: Amid the evolving security situation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi has urged Nepalis living in the country not to spread rumours, post misleading comments or share photos and videos on social media that could create confusion about the security situation.

In an “Advisory-3” issued on Sunday, the embassy warned that such activities could violate the UAE law and urged Nepalis to refrain from them, saying that engaging in illegal or unauthorised activities prohibited by the UAE law could lead to imprisonment of one to three years and a fine ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 dirhams (over Rs 4 million-Rs 8 million)

The embassy has also urged Nepalis to fully comply with the security measures set by the UAE authorities and to share official information they receive with friends and the wider community.

It asked the Nepali community not to take photos or videos related to the security situation and post them on social media or circulate any such material that could create confusion.

The embassy also warned Nepalis against photographing, approaching or touching debris that may have fallen on the ground after being intercepted by air defence systems.

For updates, it urged Nepalis to follow the official Facebook pages of the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of Nepal in Dubai. It also advised them to rely only on information issued by official authorities in the UAE.
