Action will be taken for selling ‘overnight stay’ package at Everest Base Camp

Kathmandu / April 29: The Department of Tourism (DoT) has warned of taking action if ‘overnight stay’ package at Sagarmatha Base Camp is sold.

Issuing a notice today, Section Officer at the Department, Prakash Pokharel, shared that Department’s serious attention has been drawn as they have been receiving complaints that packages with overnight stay at Sagarmatha Base Camp have been advertised.

The Department shared that there is a provision that other individuals except members of expedition team, expedition leaders, mountain guides, high-altitude workers, base camp workers and local workers are not allowed to stay in base camps.

He requested that the works be done in accordance with the legal provisions of Mountaineering Regulations. The Department also warned of taking action as per the existing laws if anyone is found involved in activities against the legal provisions. RSS
