Probe panel formed on 779 EVs taken under control

Kathmandu / June 5: The government has formed a committee to conduct a comprehensive Investigation into customs status of the 779 electrical vehicles (EVs) taken under control by the Armed Police Force, Nepal.

Following the special direction from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), a joint committee comprised of the representatives from Finance Ministry, Customs Department, Nepal Police and APF has been formed.

According to Dipa Dahal, press and research expert to Prime Minister Balendra Shah, the government formed the committee immediately to proceed ahead legal processes as it is highly aware in matters of ensuring good governance and revenue security.

She informed that the committee has already started investigation at a rapid speed by reaching at the spot from where the vehicles were taken under control.

“It may take some time to conduct detailed study of legal documents related to revenue and customs and verify them because the number of vehicles is quite large. We urge all concerned to stay assured and keep patient until the investigation,” said PM’s expert Dahal, in the information provided by the PM’s secretariat.

She added that the government committed to strengthening the state’s economy and implementation of laws.
