Karki recommended as Chief Election Commissioner; Vice Chancellors to seven public universities appointed

Kathmandu / July 3: The Constitutional Council has recommended Man Bahadur Karki (Morang) as the Chief Election Commissioner. The Council meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar took this decision on Friday. Similarly, Rajiv Subba (Kathmandu) has been recommended as the Election Commissioner.
These posts were lying vacant for some time. Similarly, Guru Prasad Wagle (Okhaldhunga) has been recommended for the post of another Election Commissioner which will be vacant after July 7, according to Deputy Speaker and Council Member Rubi Kumari Karna.
The Constitutional Council is the body to recommend qualified persons for the appointment in the vacant posts at constitutional bodies, including the Election Commission.
Seven Vice Chancellors Appointed to Public Universities; Here’s Who Was Selected
The government has appointed vice chancellors to seven public universities across Nepal.
Prime Minister Balen Shah, who also serves as the Chancellor of the universities, made the appointments on Friday.
The newly appointed vice chancellors are:
Bhola Thapa — Tribhuvan University
Kishan Dutta Bhatt — Far Western University
Rajan Suwal — Mid-West University
Rishiram Kattel — Agriculture and Forestry University
Shyam Narayan Labh — Rajarshi Janak University
Devendra Adhikari — Pokhara University
Sujan Babu Marhatta — Purbanchal University
The appointments were made through an open and competitive selection process. A recommendation committee, chaired by Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel, was formed to shortlist candidates for the vice chancellor positions.
Based on the committee’s recommendations, Prime Minister Shah, in his capacity as Chancellor, approved the appointments on Friday.
