PM Shah urged for rescue, relief, rehabilitation of Rolpa landslides victims

Kathmandu / Aug. 14: People’s representatives from Rolpa including former Minister Barsha Man Pun have drawn attention of Prime Minister Balendra Shah following heavy loss of human lives and properties due to floods and landslides in the district.

Former Minister Pun and other people’s representatives met with PM Shah at Singh Durbar and urged him for rescue, relief and reconstruction in the wake of loss of life and property due to landslides at Gam village of Soonchhahari Rural Municipality-2 and at Uwa village of Thawang Rural Municipality-5.

Pun who is also a leader of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) said that he drew PM Shah’s attention to search and rescue of those missing in landslides, free treatment for injured, appropriate compensation to families who lost members in disaster, immediate shelter and rehabilitation for those rendered homeless, and timely reconstruction of the infrastructure damaged.

On the occasion, Pun also urged PM Shah to ensure a standby team along with a helicopter for rescue in case of disaster in view of the geographical difficulties in the Rolpa district.

During the meeting, PM Shah responded that all agencies of the state were mobilized for rescue operation in Uwa incident and that instruction was already given to provide relief to the victims. He also assured of reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and immediate operation of public services that are disrupted.

Former provincial minister Sudarshan Baral Magar, NCP Lumbini province coordinator Abdul Hussein Khan and co-coordinator Krishna Adhikari were also took part in the meeting.

Meanwhile, people’s representatives from Rolpa have announced that they would provide a month salary for rescue and relief of the victims of landslides and floods in Rolpa and urged all for assistance for relief and rehabilitation of the victims.
