NOC to continue LPG cylinder sales on Sunday amid supply crunch

Kathmandu / Aug 15: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) will continue selling LPG cylinders at designated locations in the Kathmandu Valley on Sunday as consumers face difficulties securing cooking gas amid a supply crunch.

The NOC has designated seven locations across the Valley for Sunday’s sales, expanding the emergency distribution arrangement from the five locations where LPG cylinders were sold in Kathmandu on Saturday.

On Sunday, consumers will be able to purchase LPG cylinders from the NOC premises in Teku, the Animal Services Branch in Chapali, the Radha Swami Satsang building premises in Kirtipur, Tarakeshwar Municipality premises, New Bazaar Judo Hall premises, Chandragiri Municipality office and the National Tuberculosis Centre in Thimi.

The NOC said the distribution is intended primarily for consumers facing an immediate shortage of cooking gas. Buyers must present either their citizenship certificate or National Identity Card to purchase a cylinder.

The Sunday distribution will take place from 11 am to 5 pm.

The decision to extend the distribution into Sunday comes as consumers continue to report difficulties finding LPG cylinders, with the NOC seeking to ease shortages through direct sales at designated points.

On Saturday, the NOC is selling LPG cylinders at five locations in Kathmandu in coordination with the District Administration Office, Kathmandu. The designated points are the NOC premises in Teku, the Transport Management Office premises in Chabahil, Radha Swami Satsang Bhawan premises in Kirtipur, Radha Swami Satsang Bhawan premises in Basundhara and the premises of the former District Administration Office in Babarmahal.

A range of LPG brands, including Nepal Gas, HP Gas, Everest/Sugam Gas, Shree Ram Gas, Sagar Gas, Siddhartha Gas, Himal Gas, AP Gas, Shree Maya Gas, Shree Krishna Gas, Saibaba Gas, Om Gas, Bhanu Gas, STC Gas, Lokpriya Gas and Surya Gas, are being sold at the designated Saturday outlets.

The NOC has maintained that LPG imports are continuing regularly and that gas industries are supplying cylinders through their authorized dealers. It has urged consumers who are not facing an immediate shortage to avoid purchasing from the designated sales points so that cylinders can be prioritized for households in urgent need.

The NOC’s continued direct distribution on both Saturday and Sunday is aimed at providing short-term relief while regular market supplies are restored.
