Govt revenue rises in first month of current FY

Kathmandu / Aug. 17: The government’s revenue collection increased significantly in the first month of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2026/27.

According to the Financial Comptroller General Office, the government collected more than Rs 93.43 billion in revenue during the period, around 10 percent, or Rs 8.24 billion, higher than the amount collected in the corresponding month of the last FY.

Tax revenue amounted to Rs 85.19 billion, while non-tax revenue stood at Rs 7.3 billion.

Similarly, the government received Rs 240.3 million in foreign grant assistance during the first month of the FY, from mid-July to mid-August.

The government has set a revenue target of Rs 1.642 trillion for the current FY.

Government expenditure during Shrawan, the first month of the FY, amounted to Rs 41.88 billion.

The government has allocated a total budget of Rs 2.12434 trillion for the current fiscal year. Expenditure during Saun amounted to 1.97 percent of the total budget allocation.

Under the recurrent expenditure heading, spending as of the end of Shrawan (August 16) stood at Rs 21.40 billion, or 1.68 percent of the total allocation.

Similarly, capital expenditure stood at 0.31 percent of the total allocation of Rs 431.01 billion.

Under the financing heading, total spending stood at Rs 19.15 billion, accounting for 4.53 percent of the total annual allocation.
