Bamboo to be planted in vulnerable parts of quake-hit Kavre

bambooKavre / December 9: The District Forest Office, Kavre, is preparing to implant the bamboo plants in the different areas of the district having high risk of landslide and mudslides due to the earthquakes. The bamboo plants would be fixed in different locations that have witnessed fissure due to the quakes.

District Forest Officer Prem Khanal said that Rs 2 million has been allocated for planting bamboo under the Forest Decade Programme.

Khanal said that the bamboo would be planted from the beginning of the June and the technicians have been deployed to access the vulnerable areas.

“The main purpose of this is to stop soil erosion and landslide,” Khanal added. He shared that the bamboo plants would be purchased from the private sector. RSS
