PM provides assistance for cultural heritages; fund received for elderly home
Bhaktapur / December 11: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has provided financial assistance for two the Madhyapur Thimi-based organisations that are active in the protection and preservation of arts and culture.
The amount would be used for setting up a revolving fund to ensure protection of the arts and cultures.
At a meeting in the PM’s personal residence at Balkot on Thursday evening, PM Oli’s wife Radhika Shakya handed over Rs 100,000 each to Chairman of Thimi Arts Council Shree Gopal Prajapati and Chairman of Nagdesh Cultural Pucha: Bhakta Bahadur Ghaju.
Secretary of Shankhadhar Sakhwa: Foundation Gyanram Shrestha said that PM Oli provided the amount as per his commitment he made while attending a programme of Foundation on November 12.
Meanwhile, two persons have donated Rs 110,000 for the establishment of a revolving fund to support the successful operation of an elderly home based in Pokhara Sub Metropolitan City-17.
Harka Bahadur Purja of Nadipur in Pokhara Sub Metropolitan City-3 provided Rs 60,000 in memory his wife late Lal Kumari and Chhapmaya Garbuja of Nadipur provided Rs 50,500 in memory of her father Tirkhamani Garbuja for the cause of the elderly home.
They handed over the amount to chairman of the elderly home, Basanta Keshav Parajuli, on Thursday.
Parajuli said that so far Rs 1.81 million was received from different sectors for supporting the elderly home adding that target has been set to collect Rs 6 million.
Currently, a total of 62 persons including 28 women, 25 men and some workers are residing in the elderly home. RSS
