Reconstruction of 9,000 quake-ravaged school buildings to complete within three years

Pokhara / March 16: Education minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel today said that reconstruction of 9,000 school buildings ravaged by April 25 earthquake would be completed within three years.

The National Reconstruction Authority has already started homework for the reconstruction, he informed.

Minister Pokharel was speaking at a press conference organised by Kaski chapter of Revolutionary Journalists’ Association in Kaski.

He also informed that printing of textbooks by the Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra is going on and the textbook would be available to students within the fourth week of April despite the delay in the printing due to the Madhes protest.

The minister said that those children affected by the quake and Madhes agitation have been provided with an alternative means to complete their course through the use of information technology.

On a different note, Pokharel said that some issues including the demarcation of province boundaries should be sorted out through consensus. RSS
