2072 saw Nepal gain new height in international relations : PM

Kathmandu / April 12: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has outlined declaration of the new constitution, big stride in the national awakening of the country and the new height gained in Nepal’s international relations as the major achievements of the year 2072.

In an address to the nation marking the New Year 2073 and also completion of six months in office Tuesday evening, Prime Minister Oli said however the devastating earthquake killing thousands, the incident in the Madhesh killing dozens and the border blockade imposed without any just reasons were incidents that Nepalis can hardly forget. “I still do not find a just reason behind the disorder that took place in the Tarai-Madhesh causing damage worth millions to the country”, he said.

Stating that the first amendment to the constitution demonstrated that dialogue was sufficient for ensuring rights, Prime Minister Oli appealed to all the dissenting fronts, parties and groups to come for a dialogue, as there is no complex issue that cannot be resolved through democratic means. “Stepping on the negative results of under-development, numerous ‘social scientists’ carried out various experiments on our country in the name of religion, culture, ethnicity, geography and region”, he said while adding that the country should no longer be allowed to be become a laboratory.

Expressing serious concern over the acts of our traditional service providing structures and institutions overlooking our democracy, the Prime Minister urged all concerned stakeholders to assume their duties responsibly and join the government’s race for development.

Prime Minister Oli also referred to the pledge he made to replace the ropeway bridges with suspension bridges within two years, and added that the work progress was on target and that it would be achieved as per his announcement. He claimed that the announcement to end power outage fundamentally within a year will also be realized, with 600 MW to be added to the national grid within the next six months.

As implementation of the new constitution is the major task of the present coalition government, it is working speedily towards that end, with 193 contradicting laws already amended by the parliament. RSS
