Reconstruction at once in all quake-hit districts: PM Oli

Kathmandu / April 30: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the reconstruction campaign would begin together in all earthquake-hit districts.

In a weekly television programme, PM Oli, on Saturday, said Rs 200,000 was being provided to the people in all earthquake-hit districts as the first installment for the construction of houses, while Rs 300,000 against group guarantee if the first lot does not suffice.

All those disaster survivors would be ensured safe shelters before monsoon, and gradually be shifted to the individual houses, the PM said, adding that the government was aware on not letting anyone misusing the money during the reconstruction campaign.

According to PM Oli, only one third of the assistance committed by the donors was received by the government.

He however suggested all to devote to the reconstruction drive with the slogan: We make houses ourselves. However, the government would provide the technical assistance for this, the PM added.

“Happy people and prosperous Nepal is my resolution,” the PM underscored.

The entire nation needs to be taken to the earthquake- resistant structure. Though nation building in the present situation seems tougher and challenging, it will be taken ahead in a systematic way with the creation of opportunity in the hydropower, industry, tourism and transport sectors, the Prime Minister said in response to queries put forth by six persons from email, telephone, Facebook and video chat.

In today’s direct conversation, National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) executive officer Sushil Gyawali and Non Resident Nepali Association Chair Shesh Ghale responded to public queries about the post-earthquake reconstruction efforts.

A survey of some 700,000 houses has already been conducted and discussions are being held with the bodies concerned and locals to built Laprak of Gorkha as a model village. RSS
