Mountaineer Wang’s Silence of the Summit releases

Kathmandu / May 30: ‘Silence of the Summit’, Chinese mountaineer Wang Jing’s second book on mountaineering tourism of Nepal was launched here today. Wang has been writing books about adventure tourism, especially mountaineering, in Nepal.

In her second book, Wang, who has scaled Sagarmatha (Mt Everest) three times, has described about the condition of the highest peaks of the seven continents and her climbing experiences. The author has also written about her experiences of climbing mountain peaks above 8,000 metres in all the seven continents from the north and south faces in 143 days. She has also dwelt on the cultural significance of these peaks. The book is published by Everest Future Foundation.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli launched the book at a function held at his official residence in Baluwatar.

The book available in English and Chinese version is expected to be useful in the promotion of the country’s mountain tourism.

Before this Wang has already published the ‘Mountaineering Life at Altitude’ in 2013. She is decorated with the title ‘International Mountaineer-2014’ by the government and also the Nepal-China goodwill ambassador-2015. She has also received various awards in China as a successful professional woman.

On the occasion, PM Oli said that Wang’s latest book would help take the Nepal-China friensdhip to a new height besides promoting Nepal’s mountaineering tourism at the global level.

Speaking about the longstanding bilateral, cultural and geographical ties between Nepal and China, the Prime Minister expressed the belief that the book would also help cement the bilateral relations.

“I appreciate her (Wang’s) passionate courage of scaling the mountain peaks of the seven continents, including the Sagarmatha. I am confounded with her passion and audacity,” PM Oli said.

He expressed the belief that the country’s tourism would get success with the enthusiastic climbing of the various mountains including the Sagarmatha this spring season after suffering from obstruction of climbing activities for two years following two big natural disasters.

Chinese ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai believed that Wang’s book would be useful in further strengthening the China-Nepal relations.

He also stated that the shared cultural significance of the mountains and the lifestyle of the people living on the foothills of these Himalaya mountains has highlighted the relations between the two countries at the people’s level.

Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board Deepak Raj Joshi, executive director of Nepal Mountain Academy Lhakpa Phuti Sherpa and chairperson of the Everest Future Foundation Phurba Gyalzen Sherpa said that Wang’s book would contribute to promoting and enhancing the identity of mountain tourism of Nepal in the world.
