Chariot of Machhindranath reaches Jawalakhel
Lalitpur / July 26: The chariot of Rato Machhindranath, revered as the god of rain and good times, was pulled to Jawalakhel from Thatitole of Lagankhel on Tuesday.
The chariot stationed at Thatitole was pulled via Kumaripati to Jawalakhel, according to acting chief of Guthi Sansthan Baikuntha Acharya. The tradition of displaying of the jewel studded vest of Rato Macchindranath is being held four days after the chariot reached Jawalakhel i.e. on July 29.
This festival is believed to have begun during the rule of Malla King Narendra Dev and is the longest festival to be observed in the valley. The chariot pulling starts from Pulchowk. RSS
