Athletes winning medals in SAG honoured

SAG MedalistKathmandu / July 28: The government today honoured those athletes who won medals in the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) in India this year.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Minister for Youth and Sports Satya Narayan Mandal and member-secretary of the National Sports Council, Keshab Kumar Bista handed out certificates of appreciation and cash to them amid a programme in the Capital today.

Coaches and various sports organisations were also honoured. The total 179 athletes who won various medals in the SAG under different categories, 51 coaches and 18 sports organisations were honoured.

Nima Gharti Magar and Phupulhamu Khatri who got gold in the SAG were presented with Rs 500 thousand each while 20 football players received Rs 200 thousand each.

Those athletes who won silver medal got Rs 300 thousand each while those getting bronze Rs 200 thousand each.

Likewise, coaches received money ranging from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 300 thousand each while various 18 sports organisations got money ranging from Rs 200 thousand to Rs 500 thousand each.

Meanwhile, the PM encouraged athletes to move ahead undeterred in their career to get a success while pledging his support for sports and athletes regardless of which position he will hold in the future. RSS
