Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal assumes officeKathmandu / Aug. 07: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday directed the government secretaries to present result-oriented plans within three days.

While directing secretaries at his office in Singha Durbar, PM Dahal asked to them to come up with their plans soon as many things need to be accomplished in a short duration. He further directed the secretaries to be clear on the government’s priorities.

“Implementation of the constitution after making it widely-acceptable, post-earthquake reconstruction, concluding the peace process, improving effectiveness of government services, good governance and prosperity are the major aims of the government,” said Dahal, “All the government mechanisms should work to implement it.”

During his meeting with secretaries, PM Dahal said the government’s main priority is local body election, conclusion of the peace process, post-earthquake rebuilding, effective public service and good governance.

Dahal said though the international community is assured that the peace process would conclude under his leadership, doubts remains whether the culprits of serious human rights violations would get impunity.

He directed the secretaries to improve the quality of physical infrastructure saying that the government’s priority is economic development and prosperity. He said that the secretaries should rather inspect the development works instead of going on foreign junkets and attending symposiums.

In a different context, Dahal underscored the need for a serious review of trade unions in bureaucracy. He ruled out the possibility of reforms in bureaucracy unless the tradition of seeking minister and secretary of one’s choice.

The prime minister directed the secretaries to make the stable bureaucracy responsible and result-oriented, PM’s official website said.
