DEO undertakes campaign to revive schools

schoolBhaktapur / Aug 15: The District Education Office, Bhaktapur has launched a campaign to revive the community schools that closed down owing to lack of students and resources.

The DEO kicked off the campaign from Nyachopauwa Primary School located at Siddhukha of Changunarayan on Sunday. The concerned stakeholders have organized an interactive programme to restart the Nyachopauwa school, District Education Officer, Arjun Rayamahji said.

A nine-member committee has been formed under the coordination of the School’s former student and engineer, Krishna Hari Budhathoki, to formulate plans on drawing students, resources and tools to resume the school.

At the programme, Budhathoki slammed the trend of turning a school into portions to be divided. If the local political party leaders, intellectuals, social workers and parents can unite, the school will start again, he added.

PABSON-Bhaktapur Chairman, Raj Kumar Maharjan, said it was time for all to unite to run the school rather than exchanging recriminations.

The Education Office has stated that a total of 15 schools shut down during the ongoing academic session and that it plans to revive at least 10 schools out of them. RSS
