New government has new determination; struggle ahead for good governance and prosperity: PM Dahal
Kathmandu, Aug 21: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the new government was formed with the determination of doing something for the development and prosperity of the country.
Addressing a ceremony organised to mark the 10th establishment day of Public Procurement Monitoring Office, the Prime Minister said good governance, accountability to the people and administrative transparency were the priorities of the government and it was effortful to meet such priorities. Public-private cooperation to promote good governance and the government was ready to revise any law causing hurdle on it.
“Process has been initiated to make the constitution acceptable to all Nepali citizens,” he said. He directed all the government agencies to be focused on meeting the set targets.
Also speaking on the occasion, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Ramesh Lekhak, said nation’s prosperity and people’s progress was the ultimate goal of the incumbent government and economic revolution was essential to achieve this. Economic discipline and transparency was a must for a successful economic revolution.
Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi said most of the arrears of the government bodies were related to procurement and it should be addressed on time.
Office Secretary Ramesh Kumar Sharma said the Office had already switched to e-system for procurement.
Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pashupati Murarka, Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal Chair Sharad Kumar Gauchan and Office Joint Secretary Naresh Kumar Chapagain stressed that government policy should be development friendly.

Meanwhile in a meeting with a delegation from the western regional development forum at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar this morning, the Prime Minister said since a long time has been spent for political change, we should now move ahead towards the road to prosperity. “Political change will not be durable without good governance, development and prosperity’, he said, according to his deputy personal secretary Manohari Timilsena.
He also said that his government’s priority was to move ahead the reconstruction work, uniting the Madhesh, hills and the mountains to consolidate internal unity, and maintain balanced relations with the neighbours.
The Forum Chair Chandra Dhakal and members of the delegation apprised the Prime Minister of the challenges facing the development of the far-western region. RSS
