Sauraha to get well-equipped tourism information centre
Chitwan / Aug 29: Sauraha of Chitwan, Nepal’s third popular tourist destination, is set to get over Rs 13 million well-equipped tourism information centre.
Tourists visiting Sauraha get troubled for want of necessary information about an array of things like location. The setting up of the information centre is believed to relieve tourists visiting the area of this problem.
“The bidding process is underway. The construction will begin once the location selection is approved,” said senior engineer for the Department of Tourism.
Sauraha’s Bus Park area and the area near the Chitwan National Park along the Rapti River bank have been selected for the project, he said. The estimated cost is Rs 13.1 million to be provided by the Department of Tourism (DoT).
The centre will be under the direct monitoring of the Tourist Police, said General Secretary of the Regional Hotel Association, Chitwan Ram Mani Khanal.
The centre will provide information about activities of wildlife, their habits, tourist areas of Nepal, other tourist destinations in Chitwan and its geographical and cultural identity among others, he said.
The DoT has also provided monetary help to upgrade the Bus Park, install solar lamps and carry out other physical infrastructure development in the area, said tourism entrepreneur Jitu Nepal. It is said that around 2500 tourists visit the tourist destination on a daily basis. RSS
