SC asks Govt on delay in fixing election dates
Kathmandu / Sept 8: The Supreme Court has issued a show cause order in the name of the government, asking why the formulation of laws on elections in the central and provincial levels was delayed and the election dates not fixed yet.
A single bench of Justice Dr Anand Mohan Bhattarai has sought reasons from the government in written within two weeks, showing the reasons behind the delay on announcement of the elections. The order is issued with prerogative rights.
A writ petition was filed by advocates Dr Chandra Kant Gyawali, Bimal Gyawali, Leeladhar Upadhyay and Sashikumar Karki at SC on Monday, by making defendants to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and the Legislature-Parliament among others.
The writ petition had showed concern over the delay in formulation of laws relating to elections and the announcement of the election dates. RSS
