Committee formed to implement communications policy

Media ReportKathmandu / Jan 5: The government has formed an ‘implementation recommendation committee’ for implementation of the National Mass communications Policy (Information and communications report, 2073).

The decision to form the 11-member committee was made on December 24 under the chair of the Chairperson of the Administrative Court Kashiraj Dahal.

Handing over appointment letters to the Committee Chair and members at a function held on Thursday, Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki emphasized on the need to publish and disseminate the issues of the rural people rather than concentrating in the urban centres.

The Committee Chaired by Dahal includes as members the Secretaries of the Finance Ministry, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Information and Communications, the Chairperson of Press Council Nepal, communications expert at the Information Ministry and two media experts including one women designated by the Communications Ministry, and the Chief of the Communications Division at the Ministry.

On the occasion, Communications Secretary Mahendra Man Gurung expressed the commitment to provide support as much as possible for the implementation of the mass communications policy.

The mass communications policy was drafted by the high-level committee on information and communications also chaired by Chairperson of the Administrative Court Kashi Raj Dahal. RSS
